Looking forward to our 3-way conversation on Sunday evening, 8 pm EST! -
Daniel Pinchbeck

This Sunday, May 25 at 5pm PST / 8pm EST I will be joining Daniel Pinchbeck and Jamie Wheal for a livestream discussion in response to a conversation they had last week which was one of the most interesting and thought provoking chats I’ve heard in a long time.

As readers of my newsletter, you’ll know I’m passionate about the writings of the Christian mystics and I feel they offer so much to this moment we find ourselves in—when crucial teachings on non-violence, care for the poor, radical inclusivity, and our innate connection to God and one another are being firmly hijacked, not only by leaders in the U.S. government (who have twisted Christian language to justify divisive agendas) but also now the Tech Bros of Silicon Valley which was total news to me until now.

I’m new to Jamie Wheal’s work (author of Stealing Fire) and am now following his Substack and podcasts with great interest as I think he poses exciting and creative ideas for how we can look toward “Regenerative Futures” drawing from the wisdom of ancient spiritual traditions (from those practiced in the West to Indigenous cultures—which also appear to be now getting hijacked by “New Age Narcissism”).

Daniel Pinchbeck has been my friend for about 7 years now and is one of my favorite writers here on Substack. He’s published amazing books like Breaking Open The Head and 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl which helped to initiate the new psychedelic renaissance and consciousness movement.

We met randomly (or not so randomly) at an East Village cafe and bonded over the work of Gurdjieff. He’s also introduced me to books by Ruldoph Steiner, another teacher who I think offers hopeful paths through his exploration of the “spiritual sciences” which draws from esoteric Christianity and the hidden laws of nature to help awaken our dormant spiritual faculties.

It’s easy to want to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to religion (and with good reason) but I’m passionate about having conversations that could help us return to the authentic messages, especially amidst this rising religious fervor in the tech world—one driven by profit, domination and now Jesus, evidently.

I’m excited to add my voice to this conversation as a musician and artist. I feel art has a huge role to play in the awakening of new futures.

Join us this Sunday evening. Here’s the link below and you’ll receive another reminder on Sunday morning.

I also encourage you to watch Daniel and Jamie’s previous conversation before joining to get context for what we’ll reference plus it’s a seriously eye-opening chat.

You can subscribe to Daniel’s newsletter Liminal News and Jamie Wheal’s Homegrown Humans if you want to follow more of their work.

See you there!
